As Howard Siegerman said in his book Wiping Surfaces Clean concerning cleanroom personnel “No one comes to work in the morning thinking ‘Wow! I can’t wait to wipe down the environmental surfaces in my area’ As a result, surface cleaning is often overlooked or ignored.”
Challenge: The different types of contamination the cleanroom operator is trying to remove from the surface can be difficult to identify and is often invisible. Sometimes the surface might look the same before and after cleaning.
Tip #1 – Proper Cleaning Techniques: Be sure your staff is trained and re-trained in effective cleaning methods to reduce the excessive use and cost of cleaning supplies, incorporating these methods and supplies into written contamination control protocols and SOPs.
