Is there any reason to use a pre-wetted wiper rather than a squirt bottle and a dry wiper in a cleanroom?
According to Howard Siegerman there are 5 reasons:
-
- Eliminating the need to order, receive, transport, dilute, and store cleaning solutions, some of which are flammable.
- Eliminating the need to clean, maintain, and fill squirt bottles.
- The inability to achieve point-of-use filtering of cleaning solutions when they are diluted, transferred into squirt bottles, or dispensed from squirt bottles.
- Decreased VOC emissions into the cleanroom.
- Optimization of cleaning solution volume used to dampen wipers.1
A few more reasons to consider are operator errors and extra labor. After each surface stroke, the wiper needs to be refolded and sprayed (over saturation), this includes picking up and putting down the spray bottle each time. It might also include switching hands depending on the operator.
Tip #4: – Choosing Cleanroom Consumables: Wiping a surface using a wipe pre-wetted with a solvent or cleaning solution can be more convenient and in the long run saves on time, labor, operator error and cost.
