What is the proper swab technique for cleanroom surface testing?

Proper-swab-sampling-technique
  1. Select the appropriate cleanroom swab for surface sampling. The swab should have a pre-scored handle. If the handle is not notched and requires scissors to break off the swab tip, this can lead to contamination.
  2. NEVER touch the area between the tip and the notch during the sampling process. Additionally, NEVER touch the tip or the surface area with your gloved hand. This practice helps maintain sterility and prevents contamination.
  3. After completing the surface sampling, gently bend or press down on the handle to break off the swab tip into the collection tube. Ensure that the part of the handle you touch does not come into contact with the inside of the collection vial.
