Remember when you were in school and bought a Five Star notebook from Walmart? Or maybe today, you would choose an Amazon Composition Notebook for your school or college needs. These were great products while you were in school, but notebooks designed for critical environments belong to a completely different category.

At first glance, cleanroom notebooks may look like standard notebooks, often featuring spiral bindings with hard covers and paper for notetaking and data recording. However, the similarities end there. Cleanroom notebooks are specifically designed for use in cleanroom environments, where maintaining low levels of contaminants is essential. They are made from materials that minimize the shedding of particles and fibers, making them ideal for documentation and record-keeping in these controlled settings.

In contrast, regular notebook paper and standard corrugated cardboard are prone to moisture, water damage, insects, and bacteria during manufacturing, storage, and transportation. As a result, boxes and notebooks can be exposed to unknown and potentially high levels of microbial contamination and chemicals. For this reason, using a standard notebook is unacceptable in a cleanroom environment.
