Guide to Cleaning a Cleanroom Surface

Cleanroom Wiping How Many Passes
  1. To ensure a cleanroom stays uncontaminated, following standard operating procedures for proper hand hygiene, garbing, gloving, and personnel activity before entering the cleanroom is crucial. Refer to IEST-RP-CC027: Personnel Practices and Procedures in Cleanrooms and Controlled Environments.
  2. When selecting the appropriate cleanroom wipe, consider various factors, such as size, material, and edge type. To evaluate the wiping materials used in cleanrooms and other controlled environments, refer to IEST-RP-CC004: Evaluating Wiping Materials Used in Cleanrooms and Other Controlled Environments.
  3. Use cleanroom wipes that are compatible with the cleanroom class in which they will be used. Refer to the manufacturer’s product information sheets.
  4. To disinfect and clean properly, use the correct wiping technique. To prevent recontamination and get the most out of each wiper, quarter-fold the wiper and turn it to a new surface after every straight stroke. Download our free poster
  5. Always wipe using overlapping strokes in a parallel direction, using a new wiper surface with each linear stroke.
  6. Remember to wipe from back to front, cleanest to dirtiest, and driest to wettest. Never use a circular motion when wiping.
  7. It is essential to dispose of contaminated wipes properly after using them once. Make sure to dispose of them in a designated waste bin. Do not reuse or handle contaminated wipes to avoid cross-contamination.
