Whatever contaminates a cleanroom is likely brought into the environment, so it is essential to establish fundamental cleanroom best practices or protocols for the operators. For instance, before anyone enters the cleanroom for cleaning, they should remove personal items (jewelry, keys, phones, etc.) and store them outside the gowning room. If an individual must bring a personal item into the cleanroom, it should remain hidden underneath the cleanroom garments and never be removed while in the area.
All cleanroom personnel must follow proper gowning and gloving procedures and step on a tacky mat before entering the controlled environment. Eating, vaping, or chewing gum inside the cleanroom is strictly prohibited. Only approved cleanroom garments should be worn; everyone must remove cosmetics before entering. All cleanroom cleaning supplies such as wipes, disinfectants, swabs, paper, and mops must be rated and approved for the grade or iso environment of the cleanroom. The supply packaging should be intact and wiped down with IPA presaturated wipes before entering the cleanroom. Once inside, individuals should behave according to the environment and avoid fast movements while cleaning, and anyone physically ill should not be allowed inside the cleanroom.
